Tablet Craze is Waning Acer Chairman

Acer chairman JT Wang says consumer craze for tablet PCs is waning, and interest in notebooks is reviving because of Intel's Ultrabook and Microsoft's Windows 8. Digtimes quotes Wang as saying that Acer consumer surveys have confirmed interest in Ultrabook and the company is set to launch one in September, competitively priced at US$799. Tablet PCs, as pure content consumption devices with no productivity features, are of interest to just a small segment of consumers and that market has peaked. Intel predicts that Ultrabooks will account for 40% of notebook shipments by the end of 2012. Wang pegs his estimate at 25-35%. Microsoft's Windows 8 is written for use on both notebooks and tablets, but Wang believes it will boost notebook sales more. Earlier this month, Acer founder Stan Shih said that tablets as well as ultrabooks are fads and urged component makers to continue focusing on notebook computers. Shih acknowledged Apple's success with the iPad,

Sony NEX-7 Mirrorless Camera with DSLR Capabilities

The Sony NEX-7 Compact Interchangeable Lens Camera, announced on August 24, attempts to bridge the performance gap between mirrorless cameras and traditional DSLRs. Featuring a whopping 24.3 megapixel, APS-C sensor, ISO sensitivity range from ISO 100-16000 and shutter release lag of just 20 ms, it reduces the distinction mirrorless cameras and DSLRs to an obscure technicality. The shutter lag, normally 100 ms, is dramatically reduced to 10 ms through the use of an electronic "first curtain" shutter. In the NEX-7, the shutter does not need to close before it can fire and take a picture. As a result, the NEX-7 can capture fast-moving action at up to 10fps (AF/AE is fixed) – the world's fastest burst shooting speed of any mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (as of Aug 2011). It can also capture full HD video at 60fps and 24fps. Unlike Sony's earlier mirrorless model, NEX-3 and NEX-5, which featured only LCD based electronic touch controls, the NEX-7

Multifunction Gun Dior 001 by Ted Noten

The most unusual female weapon , a multifunction “gun” Dior 001 , has been introduced to the fans of original things by the Dutch designer Ted Noten . The stylish white plastic body with the details of 18-karat gold conceals in itself a set of “essential female things”. At least, they are essential from the creator’s point of view. However, most of them are actually very useful. Thus, instead of a cage, a nice white “ gun ” conceals in its depth a compact container for the most necessary pills, which are desirable to have at all times. There you can also find lip gloss (instead of the muffler), USB-drive with the “secret information”, a 100-gram bullion of pure silver, a small mirror and a pin with a pearl – just in case. The multipurpose plastic “gun” Dior 001 is a part of the collection created by the designer Ted Noten and entitled “The Seven Essential Things Which Help a Woman Feel Attractive to Men.” But it is still unknown how one should treat a bullion in this case.
