Scientists Demonstrate 2.56 TBS Data Transmission Using Light

Scientists Demonstrate 2.56 TBS Data Transmission Using Light A multi-national team of scientists has developed a system of transmitting data using twisted beams of light, demonstrating transmission rates of up to 2.56 terabits per second. The data transmission rates are 85,000 times faster than the 30 MBPS transmission rates typically available at homes using broadband cable. The team was led by Alan Willner, electrical engineering professor at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. The research was published in Nature Photonics on June 24. "You're able to do things with light that you can't do with electricity," says Willner. "That's the beauty of light; it's a bunch of photons that can be manipulated in many different ways at very high speed." Willner and his colleagues used beam-twisting "phase holograms" to manipulate eight beams of light so that each one twisted in a DNA-like helical shape as it propagate

Walk in These Shoes to Charge Gadgets

Walk in These Shoes to Charge Gadgets If you are used to having your pockets stuffed with all those new gadgets , charging them may become quite a problem. He evolved it into a thin crystal chip that goes into the sole of a shoe and generates power as the sole gets bent. Then it either stores the energy or transfers it by the means of an attached cord to your pocket and to the device inside. So, you are all right as long as you keep walking! The idea sounds really cool since you can insert the chips to any kind of shoe (excepting bathroom sl

Breaking Computer Parts Bikini

Breaking Computer Parts Bikini When we come to think of it women can handle their computers just as adroitly as men , but when we feel like joking every one of us can pounce on women’s alleged ineptitude around technology. These sexist notions (namely, that women are all fashion -minded and not very clever technology-wise) although, of course, false, are quite sticky and sometimes break out in most unexpected places. Or attempts to turn the tables do. Designers Jennifer Shannon and Andi Cheung hit upon an idea to play around these misconceptions in a way that brings together technology and fashion – their bikini is more sexy (or less sexy, depending on how you look at it) than your average one from being made of junk hardware from dismantled old computers. An objet d’art designed within the program of the Recurring Concepts in Art class at the Guggenheim Museum as the students were asked to reformulate their old projects unaided by technological devices, the hi-t

Expert users keep feeding their opinions on what exactly it is going to be. Specs -wise there seem to be a universal expectation of a “sleek unibody casing” made from Liquidmetal. This amorphous metal alloy has been Apple’s staple for two years, and there’s no reason to reject it: it is pleasantly smooth, comfortably light and reliably durable. Quad-core A6 chips are anticipated as well, and there are hints from professionals in the industry that the Siri has also been renovated. Screen-wise the situation is less clear, the size causing much argument. There are many who opt for a 4” screen, especially after Tim Cook’s statement that a wider screen possibility is washed out as inhibiting the iOS updates for current iPhone users. On the other hand, a full makeover, screen size included,
