ThinkPad X100e, one of the latest netbook models released by Lenovo, features technologies and multimedia features which have been specifically designed to meet the needs of mobile users and professionals.
As an ultra-portable computer, this device weighs around 2 lbs. and boasts an 11.6-inch high definition screen display. In addition, the screen has been designed to display up to 1,366 x 768 resolution—a feature which is common in most over-sized netbooks nowadays.
At first look, X100e can be mistaken as ThinkPad X200 series because of its small chassis and lightweight design.
But despite of its small frame, this netbook has a keyboard that has enough spacing that makes it convenient to type aside from its spill-resistant design.
To make this mobile computer convenient to use, the company has provided it with a multi-touch pad that boasts Trackpoint Technology to allow users to easily zoom in and out, scroll, and rotate the screen using their two fingers.
In addition, ThinkPad X100e comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse—two accessories designed to provide the utmost ergonomics for a more convenient and highly-interactive typing and navigation experience for users.
Because this ultra-portable computer has been specifically designed for web-centric users, it features Wi-Fi Technology (802.11n) aside from the Bluetooth Technology, WWAN connectivity, and gigabit Ethernet. Meanwhile, 3G Technology comes as an optional feature.
However, one major downside is the computer’s lack of ExpressCard slot and HDMI-out port which may be found in most over-sized netbooks.
Other features are AMD processor for speed and reliability (this is faster than Intel Atom with a RAM of 2GB) ; three USB ports’ 4-in-1 media card reader; high-definition audio support; 320GB hard drive (with an SSD option), and low-light sensitive web camera that makes chat and video conferencing more interactive and intimate.
This netbook is priced at $499 if it comes in AMD processor. But for consumers who will choose to have dual-core Neo X2 and Turion X2, the price of the netbook may reach to more than $500.
