A Taiwanese brokerage firm is reporting that iPad 2 launch has been pushed back from April to June because of production bottlenecks, but cuts in iPad prices in the UK suggest the product's launch maybe imminent.
According to Reuter, Yuanta Securities of Taiwan attributed the delay in iPad 2 launch to a late in the day format change by Apple that has forced manufacturer Hon Hai to change its production process. iPad 2 is reported to be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor and features a second front facing camera for video chats.
A note by Yuanta Securities says, "Our checks suggest new issues are being encountered with the new production process and it is taking time to resolve them."
The note adds that the two month product launch delay will results in just 23 million units shipping this year, against the earlier estimate of 30.6 million units.
Hon Hai has reportedly declined to comment on the note.
Meanwhile, UK based website Electricpig is reporting that Orange and T-Mobile have both slashed iPad prices – 3G and WiFi. They are selling the tablet for £99 on a two-year contract.
The price-cut could suggest an imminent launch of iPad 2
