Acer is reportedly set to launch a 7-in tablet featuring Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system and Nvidia's Tegra 2 processor.
According to Taiwan based Digitimes.com, the launch will take place in late April or May 2011.
Earlier this month, Acer announced that its Iconia Tab A500, 10.1-in, Android 3.0 tablet is available for pre-order from Best Buy immediately for $450.
The Iconia Tab A500 is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 250 1GHz dual-core processor and integrated GeForce GPU.
While the Tab A500 is competing against the 9.8-in screen Android 3.0 Motorola Xoom tablet, the Tab A100 would be pitched against the 7-in screen, Android 2.3 Samsung Galaxy Tablet
Acer is reported to have carried out surveys that have convinced the company that an adequate market exists for 7-in tablets. The survey's reveal that women prefer the lighter 7-in tablets because it can be held in one hand and controlled with the other.
It will be interesting to see how aggressively Acer prices its reported 7-in tablet offering. Samsung recently introduced a Wi-Fi only version of the Galaxy Tablet priced at $350.
