Amazon maybe entering the tablet computer market late, but it's reportedly doing so aggressively, with two devices within this year - the dual core Coyote and the quad core Hollywood.
Amazons plans were leaked to the site Boy Genius Reports.
The dual core device will be based on the Tegra 2 platform and is being ironically referred to as an "entry level" device. (Which other dual core Tegra 2 platform tablet is referred to as being entry level?)
The high end Hollywood tablet will be based on the quad core NVIDIA T30 "Kal-El" platform which will give it a 500% performance boost over the Coyote device.
Reports that Amazon plans to launch tablet computers first surfaced early in May, following a reported tie-up between Amazon and Taiwan based Quanta Computer for supply of 700,000 to 800,000 tablet computers a month with touch panels with Fringe Field Switching (FFS) displays sourced from E Ink Holdings (EIH).
Later in the month Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos hinted that the company plans to market Tablets when he clarified that Amazon doesn't plan a device to replace its Kindle e-book reader. As to what it plans, he simply said, "stay tuned."
