Nvidia's Tegra 3 SOC, code named Kal-El, will feature in devices from five major phone companies and five major PC manufacturers each.
Speaking at the Reuters Technology Summit in New York on Monday, Nvidia co-founder and chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang said that the Santa Clara, California-based chip manufacturer's next generation mobile processor had gained acceptance from major manufacturers for use in phones, tablets and low-powered laptops.
"It's got to be at least 10. We have five major phone companies and we have five major PC (manufacturers)," he said.
Huang also predicted that just as Android based smartphone sales caught up with and eventually outstripped Apple iPhone sales, Android Honeycomb based tablets would eventually sell more than Apple iPads.
"The Android phone took only two and a half years to achieve the momentum that we're talking about. I would expect the same thing on Honeycomb tablets," Huang said.
Earlier this month, Taiwan based Digitimes reported that Asus was planning to launch a Tegra 3 tablet.
More recently, it was reported that Amazon will launch a high end tablet code named Hollywood based on the Tegra 3 platform.
Nvidia first demonstrated its quad-core Tegra 3 at MWC 2011 on February 15, 2011, and announced that it would be available in the market by the second half of 2011.
The new CPU features a 5x performance boost over the dual-core Tegra 2.
