Canon is developing a new-concept EOS-series SLR camera capable of recording 4K video using a 35 mm full-frame CMOS sensor, the company announced on November 3.
The camera will be able to record at a frame rate of 24P, with Motion-JPEG compression.
The company's announcement coincides with the launch of its Cinema EOS System, marking Canon's full-fledged entry into the digital high-resolution production industry.
The Cinema EOS System targets cinematography professionals and spans the lens, digital cinema camera and digital SLR camera product categories.
4K Standard
4K is an emerging standard for video recording and computer graphics. The standard is based on a 4,000 pixels of horizontal resolution with the vertical resolution varying with the recording aspect ratio.
Current video recording formats standard names, like 720p and 1080p, are derived from the vertical resolution used in the format.
Product specifications of the new EOS digital SLR camera currently under development will be announced later, as also the launch date.
I'm not a pro when it comes to SLR Camera but what I do know is Canon does what it does best. Whereas with Nikon, and according to some friends, it's for professionals. Canon levels with newbies.
