HTC has tied up exclusively with Best Buy to launch its first tablet in the US this spring, it was announced on March 22 at CTIA Wireless 2011. The Wi-Fi only Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) device will feature a 7" 1024×600 multi-touch display, 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, a rear facing 5 MP Color CMOS camera with auto focus, a front facing 1.3 MP camera for video chat, 16GB eMMC memory with microSD card slot, and 4,000 mAh battery. Respectable, if not top-end, specs An optional capacitive stylus will enable users to take synchronized notes and annotate content. The HTC Flyer, with a aluminum case, is claimed to be lighter than an average paperback book. According to Digitimes.com, the HTC Flyer is expected to ship to the US in low volumes in end March, or early April, with volume production kicking in by May 2011. A Digitime source indicated that HTC will launch an Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) version of the HTC Flyer in Summer 2011.
